We have received details of the number of parent visas for the program year ended 30 June 2026 from the Department of Home Affairs.
These are as follows (in bold; the number of visas refused is in italics, and the number withdrawn is in plain type):
- Subclass 143, Contributory Parent – 6,480 – 240 – 1,345
- Subclass 173, Contributory Parent (Temporary) – 145 – 21 – 86
- Subclass 864, Contributory Aged Parent – 546 – 58 –302
- Subclass 884, Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) – 13– <5 –10
Total Contributory Parent Visas granted in the year to 30 June 2026 = 7,184
- Subclass 103, Parent – 1,489 – 46 –751
- Subclass 804, Aged Parent – 216– 77 –288
Total non-Contributory Parent Visas granted in the year to 30 June 2026 = 1,705
Total granted in the program year to 30 June 2026 = 8,889
The total number of parent visas granted for the year to 30 June 2026 – as discussed here – therefore exceeded the expected program total for 2025/26.
We have also been advised that the total number of subclass 870 visas granted in the 2025/26 program year was 2,864, with 58 x subclass 870 visa applications refused, and 302 x subclass 870 visa applications withdrawn.
